Deficiency in superoxide dismutases shortens life span of yeast cells.
Abstract
Deficiencies in superoxide dismutases (Cu,ZnSOD or Mn-SOD) strongly shorten the life span of yeast cells. The effects of these deficiencies are additive. In contrast, deficiencies in catalases do not influence life span. Our results confirm that free radical processes may be involved in aging.Acta Biochimica Polonica is an OpenAccess quarterly and publishes four issues a year.
